THE SUMMONING will be available for sale again at the beginning of April 2015, and WAY OUT OF CONTROL is scheduled to for re-release in early May 2015. In addition to new covers, both books will have some slight revisions made to them, and they will each get an Extras page here on the website with behind-the-scenes content and information relating to the story (like extras on a movie’s DVD).

In addition to preparing these stories for re-release, I have two brand new titles that I anticipate being completed next quarter. You can always find out what I’m currently working on by visiting my Coming Soon page (recently updated).

5th Book in BY THE TAIL Series

Ever have what you thought was just a teeny tiny idea, but it kept growing and growing in scope? Well, it turns out that  my werecat shifter series, By The Tail, was a much bigger story than I’d originally thought. It has now gone from a 3-book series to a 5-book one, since I’ve just officially signed another contract with Ellora’s Cave! The new book is called Cat On the Sly. While I’ve been working on book 3, Cat Under Keeps, I found myself having a hard time keeping some of the side conflicts and new ideas that continue to pop into my mind as I’m writing to minimum. There was enough exciting, romantic, sexy content for an entirely separate book, and that’s how Cat On the Sly was born. It comes after Cat Under Keeps but before Cat In Demand.

This is the new (and hopefully final) book order for the series:

  1. CAT OUT OF THE BAG (By The Tail, Book 1)
  2. CAT ON THE FENCE (By The Tail, Book 2)
  3. CAT UNDER KEEPS (By The Tail, Book 3)
  4. CAT ON THE SLY (By The Tail, Book 4)
  5. CAT IN DEMAND (By The Tail, Book 5)

Here’s a quick, rough blurb for By The Tail Book 4, CAT ON THE SLY:

What if you discover that you are the enemy?

The Werewolves are in trouble.  Especially Quinn – one of the few female Werewolves in existence, and the only one she knows of. They are at war with the Werecats, whom she despises. But while captured and being interrogated by male Cat Shifter Justin, both of them find their worlds turned upside down as they discover that Werewolf Quinn is also a late bloomer Werecat. Which side will she take?

What happens when a female Late Bloomer gets bitten by a rabid Werewolf before she learns that she is a Werecat? How will Pride leader Justin Finland react to a hybrid creature? Yup, that’s right, our favorite good guy to hate, Justin, is getting a book! I’m hoping to complete the manuscript for CAT ON THE SLY before November. I’m still working on book 3, CAT UNDER KEEPS in the meantime, with an expectation for it to go on sale this fall  (if life, work and my muse will let me be great, that is).

Please stay tuned for more information on the series! To help you stay informed, sign up for my newsletter to have information about upcoming releases (and more) sent directly to your email.  Learn more about the other books in this series on my coming soon page.

Update: CAT ON THE FENCE Complete, Plus 1 more!

I have some good news!

First: The manuscript for CAT ON THE FENCE, the second book in my By The Tail Werecat shifter series, is complete! It’s already in the hands of my editor,  and the request for the cover art has already been submitted.

Second: My trilogy is now becoming a foursome! That’s right – there will be a fourth book added to the By The Tail series. I’ll share the title and description of this new book next week, after it’s been officially accepted by my publisher.

Here’s the updated the description for CAT ON THE FENCE:

How do you choose between being with someone you love and being true to yourself?

The last thing Karabi is looking for soon after an emotional breakup with her boyfriend, is a new relationship. She’s a shifter, and romantic involvements with normal humans are challenging, to say the least. However, her clashes with the frustratingly charming new guy at work, Alex, are tinged with a lustful intent that is hard to ignore.

Alex is irresistibly drawn to Karabi the instant he meets her, and decides to throw professional conduct out the window during an elevator ride to a fundraising event for the zoo. But unbeknownst to either of them, he’s also a shifter, and as they almost go up in flames in each other’s arms at the top of the skyscraper, the beast within Alex begins to awaken.

Suddenly Alex finds himself unexpectedly thrown into the dangerous world of Werecats and Rabid Werewolves, while also attempting to learn to master the animal half of his soul. With each passing day, his sexual voracity increases, but unfortunately, so does his feral nature. To provide Alex the help he truly needs, Karabi must face The Pride and play by their rules — both of which she has fiercely rejected for a decade.

You can learn a little more about CAT ON THE FENCE and my other upcoming work on my coming soon page. Check out the first book in this series, CAT OF THE BAG, if you missed it!

THE NEXT BIG THING BLOG HOP

IMG_1882

Welcome to the NEXT BIG THING Blog Hop!

What is a blog hop? Basically, it’s a way for readers to discover authors new to them. I hope you’ll find new-to-you authors whose works you enjoy. On this stop on the blog hop, you’ll find a bit of information on me and one of my books and links to other authors you can explore! My gratitude to fellow author, S. K. Yule, for inviting me to participate in this event. You can click the following links to learn more about S. K. and her books.

In this blog hop, my fellow authors and I, in our respective blogs, have answered ten questions about our current book or work-in-progress (giving you a sneak peek). We’ve also included some behind-the-scenes information about how and why we write what we write–the characters, inspirations, plotting and other choices we make. I hope you enjoy it!

Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts and questions. Here is my Next Big Thing!

1:  What is the working title of your book? CAT OUT THE BAG, By The Tail Book 1

2:  Where did the idea come from for the book? I’ve been wanting to create my own world with shape-shifters for a long time. Cats are my favorite animals … and I practically am a cat, so this story basically wrote itself.

3:  What genre does your book come under? Paranormal Erotic Romance

4:  Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Rosario Dawson Jesse Williams
Rosario Dawson as “Sofia Saldana” Jesse Williams as “Nathan Dawson”

5:  What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

A corporate woman seeking a therapeutic holistic getaway in the mountains gets more than she bargained for when she discovers secrets in the wild that she didn’t even know she was looking for.

6:  Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?

The publication status of this book is still being determined – stay tuned for updates in the coming weeks!

7:  How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

It took me about 4 weeks to write 90% of the first draft of this story … then I struggled with the ending 10% for just as long! *laughs* I ended up taking some time off from the book, coming back to throw away the original ending, and then worked out the final ending in 3 days.

8:  What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? There are tons of shifter stories out there that probably share some elements, but I’ve created my own world with my own rules and explanations for this series

9:  Who or what inspired you to write this book? I took a flight to Vegas last fall that was my first flight in many years. I’d forgotten just how cramped the seats on the plane were! It seemed like I was forced to be squeezed so uncomfortably close to the person next to me, that I started to imagine it was Jesse Williams that I was sitting beside (hey, a girl can wish, can’t she?).  Heh, where my imagination went from there was so detailed, I had to turn it into a book as soon as I got the chance!

10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

CAT OUT THE BAG is ~35,000 words, and is the first in a new shape-shifter series called By The Tail , with standalone but connected stories in the same paranormal world. All of them will contain werecats (and more weres!), a multi-culural cast of characters as well as plenty of heat within the pages. If you like imaginative worlds with hot, diverse characters, I hope you’ll stay turned for Cat Out the Bag!

Below you will find the author who will be joining me virtually, via blog, next Wednesday. Please be sure to bookmark their sites, and add them to your calendars for updates on their upcoming books!

Happy Writing and Reading!

GREENER GRASS – Excerpt #2

Here is a second excerpt from the very first full-length novel I finished, called GREENER GRASS.  Since it just sits aorund collecting dust, I’d thought I’d share one of my favorite scenes from it.  (Click here to read the first excerpt posted.)

Vanessa turned over on her pillow and looked at the clock on her nightstand.  It was six thirty in the morning.  She didn’t need to be awake for another hour, but she was wide awake right now.  Kevin, the early riser, usually left the house for work at about six twenty and so she knew that he was already gone.  She tried closing her eyes and forcing herself to go back to sleep, but was unsuccessful.  After lying there for another ten minutes, she decided to go along with her body and start the day off early.

She went into their bathroom and washed her face and brushed her teeth.  The master bedroom only had a private half bath, and there was now a guest staying in the house, so she grabbed her bathrobe off the hook on the back of the bathroom door before she went out into the hall to go to the main bathroom to shower.

As she got closer to the bathroom she was startled to hear the sounds of an electric razor, and wondered if Kevin was running late that morning.  The bathroom door was open, and instead of her husband she found his brother there leaned over the sink and close to the mirror shaving his face, with a bath towel wrapped around his waist.

THE BEAUTY OF DEATH – Excerpt

I’d like to share an excerpt from chapter 2 of THE BEAUTY OF DEATH. Since the entire scene is a bit too long to post here, I just included a few pages from it. It is not a complete scene and you may be kind of left hanging, but I think it may be a good way to at least introduce the two lead characters.

GREENER GRASS – Excerpt

This is from the first novel I wrote called GREENER GRASS. It doesn’t fall in the fantasy, science fiction, or even the romance genre, really. I look back at it now and giggle a little at how much my writing has grown since this. Perhaps some day when I have become bored with unusual romances I will return to this book and treat it to an edit.  Click here to see another excerpt from this book.

She was not having nearly as much fun as he was. The feel of the rough cotton sheets underneath her bare skin, the constant high-pitched squeaking of the metal bed frame, and even the smell of the sweat forming on his skin was giving her far more irritation than he was giving her pleasure.

HARD DRIVE – Excerpt

I am participating in an online writing course, and this week’s assignments required that we write a scene from our novel-to-be’s in the First Person POV. This is some random scene from a science fiction romance novel I am working on that I will call HARD DRIVE. It is from the perspective of the main female character. I usually only write fiction in Third Person, so this was an exciting exercise for me. Thought I’d share it. 🙂

I pulled the armor over my head and hesitated. The injection was going to hurt. It always did. It never seemed to bother the others as much as it did me, but I wasn’t going to let them see that.

Especially not him. There was no way in hell I was going to allow him to see me wince, in weakness.

With his rippling biceps and broad shoulders, I bet a harpoon being shot into his forearm wouldn’t faze him. He was a cold, solid, unmovable wall of a man. And he was always so fruddy sure of himself. Well, he did have good cause to be – he was almost fruddy perfect.

Almost. But he wasn’t going to win because he wasn’t me. And because the strategy he so vehemently supported was flawed. That position was mine! I was going to make sure that nothing stood in the way of me and the captain’s chair on that new ship. The only thing he had a leg up on me in was in regards to his insane muscular mass and much harder chest.

Nothing that a little visit to the Gene Genie and a prescription for some testosterone and further genetic modifications couldn’t fix on a gal like me.

I watched as he traversed the room, shaking everyone’s hand as he introduced himself, his face a chiseled statue of power and control. To my dismay, as he neared me that peculiar thing happened again. My pulse quickened and my breathing grew strained. As I bent my arm to offer him my hand, I found that it was shaking. Why in the fruddy hell? Was I afraid of this man? Jealous? Allergic? What?
“Commander Tirani.” He nodded at me, his hand hanging in the air as he awaited my response. There was no expression on his face, but something in his eyes as he looked at me made me feel very vulnerable.

I pushed the injection button on my suit and allowed the shot of Rage to flow through my veins. It stung something awful, but boy, what a relief it was to feel that Rage. What a relief it was to feel anything other than the nothing I was expected to feel and the something that this male made me not want to feel. I smirked at him as I firmly took his hand and shook it briefly but hard.

“Commander Kim,” I nodded back at him.
