13 Things I Like / Dislike About Summer

by ** Tatiana Caldwell ** on July.8.2010

I like summer. I really do. I used to like it more when I was younger, and when summer meant a break from school, cool vacations and a chance for a summer-job so I could make some money. Now that I’m a little older and have to earn money year-round and don’t get 3 months of time off from ANYTHING, I can see just as many cons to summer as I can pros.

  1. The sun is out! / So are the bugs, blegh
  2. Swimming and waterplay / Swimsuit shopping (loathe it)
  3. School is out! / Kids complaining about being bored
  4. Cute, comfy clothes / My not-cute thighs are visible in shorts
  5. Open toed shoes / My toenails must stay polished
  6. More hours of sunshine in a day / Same hours of work in day where I can’t go out and enjoy said sunshine
  7. Hot, shirtless men / I’m stuck in my bra AND a hot shirt
  8. Flirty summer dresses / Getting hit on by strange men constantly (hmmm … or maybe I kinda do like that?)
  9. Warm enough to walk around the house naked / Having to put clothes back on to answer the door
  10. The heat is on! / Feeling sleepy due to the heat and wanting to nap, but can’t because I’ve got work to do
  11. Getting sweaty / Being sweaty
  12. Grilling lots of yummy food outside / Working off the calories from pigging out on all of that yummy food
  13. Vacations! / Paying for vacations

1. That’s what Off repellant is for, it even comes with sunscreen.
2. You are gorgeous so stop loathing it and have fun with it.
3. You know what, they aren’t really bored, they just miss being with you.
4. Refer to # 2!
5. I bet you have cute toes and can wear clear polish.
6. Go out at lunch time and walk around some and go for walks after dinner.
7. Well…even I can’t find a bright spot in that one *sigh*
8. As long as they aren’t crazy you know that is all pro and no con there lol
9. *Blank stare* Was I supposed to put them back on? Is that why the Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses ain’t been back?
10. There is always some place to catch a nap…you just need to look for it. Trust me…I’ve yet to work some place where I couldn’t nap.
11. Depends on why I’m sweaty *wink* and that is what cool showers are for. YEAH MORE WATER PLAY!
12. Refer to #11. Burns more calories than you think.
13. But the vacations are worth every penny especially when you are with people you love.

FABULOUS LIST AS ALWAYS!!! :-)

Very nice retorts, CC darling. But Off can’t keep the flies out. And I am so with you on the WHY I’m sweaty – hence why “getting sweaty” is on the LIKE side. ;)

Well that about summed it up for me, LOL!

And I think it’s way past time women got to go shirtless at will, too. I know a lot of men who have more boobage to support/hide than I do.

Farmers markets (yeah!); have to shave every stinking day (boo).

That’s my contribution. lol

I forgot about the shaving! Good one!

Until my kids got a little more independent I started dreading Summer because it meant I had to try and work with them interrupting me every few seconds. Bleh!

That’s my kids all year round.

I hate summer. I am a cold weather girl.

I don’t like it too cold or too hot. I like it in the middle (heh heh)

I’m afraid I’m with Inez. I hate summer. Winter is my favorite time of year.

Right now I’m shivering in winter cold. I could do with some sunshine. I love summer, but the temperature is manageable down here.

*sends some sunshine your way*

I’m not a big fan of summer anymore, either, especially the heat. But I have enjoyed some very fine man flesh exposed. Stay cool!

** Tatiana Caldwell ** July 8, 2010 at 10:29 pm

Hard to stay cool with all that exposed fine man flesh though, eh?

I can’t agree with you more. I’ve had to break out the shorts and start shaving often again–boo!

Happy TT.

1. We hates the sun, precious. *hiss*
3. Summer at the library is HIDEOUS.
6. Lestat tells me I can’t go out in the sunlight.
7. Not where I live. *shudder*
9. I never answer my door unless the twin gives her doorbell code.
12. I hate people and see no need to grill outside with them.
13. Okay, umm……*thinks really really hard* I can’t argue this point(damn), because September is going to ROCK.

*snickers* I love your vampiric tendencies, babe.

To tell you the truth, I’m not a big outdoors person myself. But if I must be out there, I prefer to do it in the fall.

Oh gawd … I hear ya on the bugs. I hate those pesky things! We can’t step outside our door without mosquitoes carrying us away. I’m ready for fall! :)

Reply

** Tatiana Caldwell ** July 8, 2010 at 9:56 pm

Carrying you away? Honey those aren’t mosquitoes those are pterodactyls. Move immediately.

Autumn is my favorite, but summer is a close second. This had me grinning and nodding along.

Autumn happens to be my favorite too, with summer close behind. Spring is too short for me to appreciate it and although Winter is cool, it tends to overstay its welcome.

I can so relate to many of these, especially the swimming suit dilemma
Happy T13!
