Mother’s Day is coming soon, and I’m a mommy twice over. Boy, motherhood is hard work and can sometimes be challenging, that’s for sure. But overall I love being a mother, and I thought I’d share thirteen reasons why:
- The hugs and kisses you get every day
- Harass your husband without expending any energy – just order your little minions to attack him
- The compliments – “Mommy you look pretty today!” – even when all you’ve done is simply brushed your hair for a change
- You have someone who needs your nurturing care … and can in return provide you with some care when you need it
- No need to look for the remote control or get up off the comfortable couch again to grab more salt for the popcorn when you can just send one of the kids to fetch it
- Hearing “I love you, mommy”
- Never look silly for going to the theater to see Disney movies without a child
- Seeing yourself in them
- A house full of toys, games and candy is a great one, I say
- You actually have a temporary excuse for that round, flabby tummy
- There’s someone to not only pass on your genes to, but your values, stories, memories and hard-earned assets to
- Feel pride in watching something beautiful you created learn, grow and mature
- You get to celebrate Mother’s Day!
Happy Mother’s Day to all you mommies out there!

Awww….this makes me actually half-way almost want to have one of my own…
I especially like #2, though. *evil grin*
tee hee heee, figures you would like that one!
All excellent benefits to being a mom. Also, being able to swing on the swings at the park without people thinking you are insane.
Ha, I do that too – that's a good one I forgot!
Lovely picture! Yes these are great benefits. Also, no one thinks it odd if you are still buying stuffed animals. Not that I do that or anything….*looks shifty*
*giggles* True, but I usually think us ladies should get a pass at owning dolls and stuffed animals. Just because.
I couldn't agree with you more on every count. Hope you have a very Happy Mother's Day! *Hugs*
gorgeous post…
i have a couple…
experiencing unconditional love at first sight..
appreciating just how strong and capable your body is…
having fantastically toned arms from all that hefting them and their gear around…
realising your mum was right and smiling about it…
happy mother's day…
Wow, those are all good! If I were going to expand this list to 20, these would go it – especially the unconditional love at first sight one.
Great list!
*hugs*
Paige
My TT is at http://paigetylertheauthor.blogspot.com/
Sweet list – and I'm sure you treasure every single second, too!
Happy TT!
Yes, I do!
My dh gets such a horrified look on his face when I send the kids his way. teehee.
*joins in with evil laughter*
*sniffles* That is so sweet! I hope you have an awesome Mother's Day!
Aww, thanks!
How sweet!
awwww…. so sweet.
sweet list…
I really am enjoying being a mom this year…honestly, there are many years where I felt like I was screwing up and screwing up my son so I didn't always feel so "motherly" and I'm sure I'll feel like that again….
but this year…seeing my son grow into a man…really makes me happy to be his mom….even though I gave him life…he's the reason I am living today…he's the reason I breathe everyday…even when I want to strangle him lol
Happy Mother's Day
But from everything I've ever heard you say, you sound like a wonderful mother. Neither you nor every day has to be perfect in order for to you to be doing an excellent job.
I got a little misty-eyed at the reasons you state in your second paragraph. Watching the child you raise turn into an adult that you can be proud of and who adds meaning to your life is priceless.
Awwww. These are sweet. And I love how you refer to your children as your minions.
Well, minions are definitely what my little ones are. After all, they're the offspring of the Queen and King and mischief!
Love your list. I'm a mom too, and I have sicked my child on my hubby when he was bad, lol. My daughter is now old enough to cook dinner when I don't feel up to it, and then do the dishes. Now if I can just get her to do the dishes more often?
Happy TT.
Janice~
I swear, husbands were meant to be attacked and children were meant to do the attacking!
My kids are too little to do dishes or cook yet, but fortunately the hubby is well trained in those areas!
What a life-affirming post! Thank you!
Why, you're welcome!
