Last week I made a list of 13 bad habits I have, and it got me to thinking about some GOOD habits I’d LIKE to form:
- Write even when I’m sick, tired, angry, unimaginative or surrounded by domestic chaos
- Meditate every day
- Save as much money each year as I pay in all taxes
- Prefer baked, broiled, steamed or grilled foods over fried
- Learn a new word every day
- Deliver more of the compliments that I tend to keep to myself
- Worry less
- Call all of my friends and family on their birthdays (I so suck at that kind of stuff)
- Make time for myself every day, even if it is only for 20 minutes
- Consistently exercise 5 days a week for 50+ minutes (i’m almost there, though!)
- Let bad news roll off my back and never get me down
- Blog something brilliant every day
- Play as hard (and as often) as I work
What about you? Any good habits you’d like to pick up?

great list ‘Wanna! Sounds like many things I am committed to as well.
Thanks Yoli! You are one of my role models when it comes to good habits, you know that right?
I could use a few of those habits myself
The writing even when sick thing is something I’m trying to do – and it’s soooo hard, but it’s worth it, too. I find it easier to do edits/corrections/rewrites when I’m ill, though. Fresh creation is really difficult when I can’t quit coughing.
There are ways, though.
Good luck on these endeavors! I wish you the best.
That’s a great idea about doing edits or revisions when sick, I may still that. I also find it easier to write something non-fiction when sick than something fiction.
Thank you for the wishes!
Wow, no snark here. I mirror those aspirations.
Oh, try Merriam Webster Word of the Day. It’s really good.
Thank you Wil – I just signed up!
I love your list! I can’t think of a thing to add so I am applying your list to me.
#1- I do even if its in my head.
#2- I do on the train to & from work.
#3 – is an excellent aspiration…don’t know if I can do it…I love to shop!
#4- I eat them that way but I don’t prefer them that way & doubt I ever will anything but fried *le sigh*.
#5- I do that…I just don’t use them o_O.
#6- I do that.
#7- I do this…gin helps, IJS.
#8- Call? Psh, they get e-cards…they might hit me up for money…uh uh I ain’t calling!
#9- I already do this…I’m so spoiled.
#10- Ummmmm, ok…I can’t come up with a smart quip so that means I need to do this.
Dang fatties on Biggest Loser making everyone wanna be healthy and ish!
#11- Well…that depends on the news cuz when I heard my seemingly tough azz nephew got sent to juvie jail and called within the hour crying like a baby for someone to talk to the judge, I laughed till my stomach cramped. Not funny?
#12- I blog in my brain all the time…but my online blog is curiously empty…gotta work on this.
#13- Can’t do that cuz then I wouldn’t get any work done…i.e. I’m putting up a real good front that I’m working now. Got a pissed off expression and everything.
Nice response! Sounds like you’ve got some habits I want to developed already licked. Good idea about e-cards! I too write way more blogs in my brain than ever reach this site, unfortunately. ha! And true, I may never get to play as often as I work – but I should definitely try to just relax far more often than I do.
Loving the list!
Thanks!
Lofty goals! I hope you’ll find them become easier every day. Just be warned about compliments. I’ve become bolder and almost every time I compliment a man that I’ll see again he ends up hitting on me. Crazy.
Heh heh, note taken about the compliments!
Good list.
I’m staying away from fried food myself because of heartburn, and I’ve already given up soda for the same reason.
I write every day, whether its on my blog or my manuscript. I would get antsy if I didn’t.

great list…
my thing is to ‘live in the moment’ once in a while and not worrying about consequences and outcomes..
i know ‘sh$t happens’ but am vigilant to the point of exhaustion sometimes planning for perceived eventualities..
unplanned ‘stuff’ spins me out and loving my comfort zone sometimes makes me a bit of a grouch..
for instance i was out with friends and suddenly plans changed – we were headed to the ‘unknown’.. i sat for 1/2 an hour planning.. what if this and what if that? once i had a plan – eventualities covered – could i get into it…
nothing ‘happened’ as is mostly the case – we had a great time and all got home in one piece…
i missed the ‘adventure’ part of the journey because i was too wrapped up in my head – which was a shame…
i have to stop doing this.. i know it’s about trust…
am working on it…
That’s a good list, too. Acknowledging the things you want to change is a great start – good luck on achieving your list as well, London.
