I just finished watching the first season of Legend of the Seeker, an action-adventure fantasy television series based on The Sword of Truth novels by Terry Goodkind. Because I haven’t read the books yet I can’t vouch for how true or not the show is to the books, but on its own it’s quite entertaining.
(I don’t think film and serials should be directly compared against novels they’re derived from anyways – they are different mediums for story-telling and therefore impossible to keep identical.)
Here’s 13 reasons why I think this show is hot:
- Magic and mayhem abounds

- It’s action-packed and adventurous

- Actors that are well suited for their roles (they definitely get better over time)
- Richard Cypher, “The Seeker”, is so yumm!

- Honorable heroes and heroines that stick to their morals (even when it’s really, really hard)
- Mmmm …. forbidden love
There are so few good fun Fantasy series on TV!- Hot men tortured by hot women (there’s something wonderful about a gorgeous guy helplessly hanging from the ceiling, dontcha think?)
- The writing is surprisingly smart – even the bad guys are more clever than you’d expect
- Women that kick butt and look good while doing it
- The characters often end up in seemingly hopeless predicaments with high tension, and you won’t often be able to guess how they’re going to get out of it
- Stunning costumes – I want this white one …

- Each episode is better than the one before

I feel kind of out of the loop because I've never heard of this show. Then again, I rarely ever watch TV, so I miss out on alot. LOL It sounds great though.
Oh, I'm the same way mostly. I only just heard of this show myself a couple of months ago.
I didn't even watch it on TV – I watched it on Netflix Instant Movies. It if wasn't for DVR /Tivo, Netflix and Hulu I'd never see any TV show ever.
I highly recommend you get a DVR or Tivo, or Netflix. You can watch shows whenever you DO have the time.
I loves loves loves this show! I was a fan of Terry Goodkind for a while. I did not read the Sword of Truth books so I can't tell how close they follow the story line but I find the show very entertaining. And you would love this white outfit. But remember you can only wear it after you've broken him lol. Season 2 is finishing up so catch up!
The fact that the white outfit can only be worn AFTER I've broken him and he recognizes me as his mistress is partially WHY the outfit is so hot! Heh heh!
I'm trying to catch up!
Yum!
Is this on Scy Fy channel, or whatever they're calling themselves these days. It might be worth my while to try and pry the remote control our of my son's hand.
I believe this show is by Disney-ABC, not SyFy. It's funny that I can't tell you what channel it comes on because I've never actually caught it on TV yet. I just set up my DVR to start recording the remaining episodes of Season 2, and it looks like it will be coming on WGN in my area.
You can go to http://dadt.com/lots/ and enter your zip code in the form on the right-hand side of the page to find your local time and channel for the show.
I'm going to have to check this out…didn't even know they were making it a series until this week!
Knowing you Sherri, I think you might really like it.
Have to admit that we don't watch it, mainly because we read the first two books in the series and didn't like the rest, so we thought the show might not be very good, either. Sorry! Don't hate me! LOL!
*hugs*

If your reasons for not looking the book were because of the graphic violence, I hear it is very toned down for the show. Maybe give a few episodes a try and see what you think?
I love, love, love this show! For all the reasons you mentioned. It does get better, particularly into season 2. It's great to have a real hero, who isn't full of himself, and genuine heroines too.
It also doesn't run very close to the books, which can only be a good thing.
Yes, I love that he is humble yet far from weak or wimpy, and is genuinely a good guy. Glad to see another fan!
Fun list. Though I haven't seen it.
If you like fantasy at all, give it a try. It's free on Hulu.com or you can watch it instantly with Netflix.
I have the books, and there are some differences, like Richard is taller in the books with broader shoulders. And there's more graphic torture in the books, but not in the show. For that I am glad. *shudder*
Happy TT.

I'm glad too then, heh. But do you like the show or the books?
I've never seen it, but I think I'm gonna have to check this out. Awesome costumes and a hot tortured guy? I'm so there!
He isn't tortured in every episode (well, I guess it depends on your definition of tortured) but he's definitely hot in every one.
Yeah, OK…I pretty much have to see this. HAVE TO. I know I am going to love it, so thank you in advance!!
I hope you do enjoy it!
Have not heard of this one, though I think my BIL has read the books.
I have a feeling this was filmed in New Zealand too. That's another good reason for your list.
Another good reason, indeed!
Hellooooo!!! *uber-pounce*
I think Zuly told me about this, and I forgot! This is a MUST see because the books I've read so far absolutely, utterly and completely sucked me in. I actually stopped partway through the third because the antagonist pissed me off so bad I had to put the book down… *hangs head*
