New Year, Same Old Grind

by ** Tatiana Caldwell ** on January.25.2008

Final draft of manuscript completed. Check.

Final draft of synopsis completed. Check.

Draft query letter ready. Check.

Nerve to actually start submitting The Beauty of Death to editors and face potential rejection. Check.
No, wait – Uncheck. Okay, yeah … Check.

I’m about as ready as I am gonna get.

This will be quite the process. Generally, since I am without an agent, I will have to either send just the query letter to an editor, wait for a response, and if they are interested, send the synopsis and sample chapters, wait some more, and then if they are still interested, send the complete manuscript. Even when editors allow for the first step to be skipped, all of them have made note that it can take a few months (easily up to a half a year, sometimes closer to a full year) for them to respond. That is just how many wannabe writers like me are filling up their queues! Wow! But oh well, I can handle waiting.

Sort of.

Patience? Check, or at least a semi-check. Ha!
