… Go!

Wheeeeeeeeeee!

It has been almost a month now that I’ve been crafting The Beauty of Death. And what a month it has been! I’ve been writing like the devil is chasing me, with around 9,000 words (or about 3o pages) written each week. With 120 pages so far, I have a good third of the book written already.

And this hasn’t exactly been sloppy-just-throw-words-on-the-paper writing, either. The book is just flowing that naturally from my fingertips, almost as if the characters are writing the book themselves. I have really been enjoying my time working on this novel, and I feel three times more confident in the material already than I do with my first book. I have learned SO much since my first novel, by reading more, practicing, meeting with my writing buddy Sarah and talking with other writers and editors, and I think it shows in this novel.

How have I found the time to write so much, working full time, being 9 months pregnant, mother to a 3-year-old and a doting wife? Well, I’ve neglected this blog quite a bit, don’t chat on messenger or non-writing message boards much anymore, watch my favorite tv shows for the week in 1 sitting (thank the heavens for DVR!) and dedicate the majority of my free time to writing. And during work lunch breaks, boring meetings, before I fall asleep at night, when I wake up at 3 am because the baby is drop-kicking me in the lungs, I write.

At this pace, I should be finished with the first draft of this novel by November, and have a final draft done by December. If all goes well then, I may be able to enter my novel in the annual contest the Romance Writers of America guild holds. The way I see it, it would be much easier to sell my book to an agent or publisher or even to readers if it was at least nominated for an award. So that is my goal! Go Wanna, Go!
